About This Blog

This is a blog about things I am thinking about and things I find interesting. If you research how to start a blog you will find the recommendation for a new blog to focus on one topic. Well, like my writing and the music I enjoy and the books I read, I have a plethora of interests, curiosities, passions, preoccupations, fascinations and obsessions. I want to get them all down, not to vociferate my opinion on the world as the remedy for all ailments or the answer to all questions but rather for the sheer joy of expression.

“I reached out for something to attach myself to—and I found nothing. But in reaching out, in the effort to grasp, to attach myself, left high and dry as I was, I nevertheless found something I had not looked for—myself. I found that what I had desired all my life was not to live—if what others are doing is called living—but to express myself.” – Henry Miller

I have always been fascinated with words and language and writing. It is my most powerful and joyous form of expression. I also like to paint and draw and, though my skills are imperceptibly above a dilettante, I also enjoy playing piano and guitar. For others it might be dancing or painting or singing or cooking or building websites or building a house or anything you can imagine. We each have our unique form of expression.

The beauty of this world is we are all different. There is enough space and enough resources for each and every one of us to be true to ourselves and live life the way we want to live. We don’t have to be the same. We don’t have to be like anyone else. All too often we look to external sources to validate our existence and prove our worthiness.  We are all worthy. We are all enough exactly as we are. I say this because I’ve spent too much time not being me, too much time wearing a mask, draped in the accouterments of accepted norms and marcescent ideals performing an act instead of just relaxing into the strength of who I am.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”  Howard Thurman

Life is this wonderful journey of discovery and continued expansion – continually, eternally. We never arrive. This blog, then, represents my continued discovery of self, my journey of expansion, my satisfaction with what is and my eagerness and readiness for more.

The list of topics I want to write about is ununiform, often contradictory, definitely inconsistent and maybe even a bit capricious, but they are my expressions and I will not apologize for that. My thoughts and the things I write about will resonate with some and not with others and that’s ok. That is how it should be. If something does resonate with you, or interest you, sit with it and let it vibrate through your day and thoughts and let me know. I welcome all comments and feedback on anything you read here.

Click on the about me page  to learn more, well…about me – and my writing.

Thank you for reading. I appreciate it immensely.
